I know that not many of us are lucky enough to have space for a guest bedroom and we often have to make do with a sofa bed in the lounge. However, maybe you have a large house or your children have left home and you are now thinking of decorating your spare bedroom to make your guets comfortable.
So here are some tips:
- Do not use the bedroom as a junk room, otherwise it will take you hours of work to tidy it up when you have a guest. Bite the bullet and declutter instead and the bedroom will always be ready when you need it.
- Include some built in storage and leave at least part of it for your guests to use.
- Add a bedside table, a reading light and plenty of plump pillows.
- No need to buy a state-of-the-art bed but make sure that the mattress is comfortable and doesn’t have lumps
- When your guests arrive, place a couple of flowers in a vase. A nice touch is always welcome. However don’t be tempted to put a large bouquet of flowers in the bedroom as the smell could be too overpowering and unpleasant during the night.
- If your guests have to use the main bathroom, don’t forget to place some clean towels for their own use.
Enjoy the visit!
